Very pleased!
Was skeptical they were hard to use. EXTREMELY easy. You can do video just by asking to turn video on. And listen to music. Asking for specfic song. Everyone should have these

Not working
The ai in the glasses is not the ai in meta app, It’s like google assistant and Siri few years ago. The media never got uploaded to my phone and lost all the photage. It doesn’t connect to Facebook app.Lost my time and hopefully not the money.I only didnt give one star is for the nice style.

ð©·love them! The tech gadget I didnât know I wanted
These Meta Ray-Ban sunglasses are amazing. They are not bulky or heavy and are comfortable enough to be worn all day. This Skyler cat eye style looks really good! I love them for listening to music, particularly on my bike or while doing yard work. The sound is great. They have an ambient noise function which is great. When I use the leaf blower, the music gets louder. It then returns to the level as set when the background noise subsides. Since they are bone induction and not placed inside the ears, I can still hear whatâs going on around me, which feels safe.Taking calls using these is convenient. I was wearing them outside just as sunglasses and forgot that they were much more when it announced to me âcall fromâ¦â. I was a bit startled, but took the call while continuing doing my gardening. My phone was in the house, so the range is decent. These glasses do live translation! Thatâs exciting. We tried it using our (very) limited knowledge of Spanish. It worked pretty well! It only has 6 languages at the moment and no plans to add more (according to the glassesâ AI).A lot of people use these frames and have their prescription lenses installed. There was a paper included in the box telling you about this and how to find a place to provide this. I donât wear glasses, but love the way these look and all the conveniences they provide. I would definitely do this if I did.Thereâs so much you can do with these, just using your voice. The pictures and video look great and are easy to upload to your phone through the Meta app. You can allow it to use your contacts and easily send messages or make calls. You can ask questions through the glassesâ Meta AI.The battery life is pretty good. I havenât had them come even close to dying on me. I have worn them for probably a max of 3 hours, which used maybe 20% of the battery. The hard shell case is really nice and charges the glasses too.I really love these Meta Ray-Ban sunglasses. They are the tech gadget that I didnât know I wanted!

Gen 2 is a slight upgrade
So these have the 3K camera and increased battery life over the original (now, so called Gen 1). If you see meta AI glasses that don’t say Gen 2, they are gen 1. This is probably the product that should have been released originally.I really don’t understand why they used a dumb AI for this instead of something that sounds more like natural language. The meta AI used here sounds like Siri from 2017. It’s robotic, slow, uses canned phrases, etcIt does, however, do the things that you’re asking of it, and will use the internet to look up information. The integration with the camera is very cool, I’m assuming it uses GPS location or something like that to corroborate what you might be looking at through the camera. The AI mode that will allow you to continue your conversation with it. It is actually pretty cool because you could continue to have it view things that you’re looking at while walking around. All of that said, the main show here is the 3k camera. The camera is limited in recording time, and using 3K mode significantly reduces battery life from the 8-hour advertised mark. With that in mind, it is pretty surreal to be able to get better than HD quality in actual first person view.I can see something like this going on ski goggles, and basically eliminating the market for compact sports cameras, assuming that at some point Meta can overcome the time limitations. One thing about the Skyler frames, I wasn’t sure how “catty” these would look on a guy, and I’ll be honest, it’s a little awkward to me because of the location of the camera. I’m not going to take any stars off of this because it’s not an issue with the product itself, but the frame style Skyler isn’t my favorite. I think other guys with different style choices could probably get away with it, but they are a little bit too “catty” for me, personally. That said, my wife or niece might get more use out of them than me down the road.

Great glasses but the frame is a no go
The glasses are great only reason it has 3 stars is because of the Skylar frame. Itâs more of a cat like girlish look.

As arrived, box is professional and descriptiveOut of the box, the packaging is excellent with the beautiful leather charging case front and centreIncluded is the case, glasses with installed black polarized lenses and various verbiage and cableGlasses are a bit bulky but light at only 53gGlasses power on when removed from the case with audible chimes and speaking coming from the built-in speakers embedded in the frames with integrated controls (touch and slide) also in the frameFor photo/video usage, there is a physical press button at the top of the frameAUDIO â sound output is good; in comparison to open-ear headphones Id give it a 3.5-4/5 with decent treble but limited levels given sound projection and surrounding noise. Not necessarily the fault of the glasses, but if you are buying them for their audio output alone, they are decent but not comparable to standard buds or headphonesVOICE â recognition and response is great â even in loud settings or those with high background noise (wind), saw no issues with it picking up my voice and responding appropriatelyVIDEO â as seen in the video attached, they are an extension of your eyes; great video recording with good colour, light filtering (ie. Filtering out direct sunlight) and motion stabilization. I decided to test them outdoors using them to record hunting with variety of sound and motion. I did my best to do some rapid movements and slow to show the responsiveness and self-stabilization.VIDEO â low light â for this I did two testing regions; first in a forest where direct light is limited; unfortunately, this was the worst performance I saw as, after 10 minutes beyond sunset, the glasses were recording in near dark settings and indistinguishable even though normal eyesight was still able to see fine. Alternatively, in an open setting with the same test and times, clear visibility was present upto 30 minutes past sunset. Therefore, make sure you have light around otherwise recording will be limited.VIDEO -sound â as noted in the video, audio pickup is excellent even in windy settings with minimal interference and even picking up my breathing heavily (not sure that was great but not a fault); good pick up of even small sounds in any conditions thoughBattery is also excellent â 3 hour sit, recording approx. 30 different videos, never powering off and I still had 43% batteryWhat I donât like:They are bulky and, with a hat, can get uncomfortable with longer wearingFrames themselves are also thicker so may inhibit normal sight lanesYou cannot turn off the indicator light that you are recording, which is a soft white light that flashes continuously once recording has startedOverall, they are pretty awesome for vlogging â great video, audio, and recording â decent customization and high output with a pretty incredible battery considering they somehow found a way to jam it in something as slim as glasses frames. If you look to document your day, its hard to find fault with the functionality of meta and the quality of rayban â great package for sure.

These sunglasses are awesome, so fun.Right from the start and unboxing they are Ray-Ban Quality. Unzip the box and inside is the classic looking brown Ray-Ban case. Until you look close and realize it is a powered charging case.Setup and use is simpleThe fact that they look and feel just like Ray-Bans is awesome. All while being able to take photo or video.Great if you are into making videos for your socials, or just want to make memories with the family.

I didn’t expect to take well to “smart” glasses. I’m already suffering from tech overload with IoT and my smartphone, their apps needing occasional re-sign-in (the worst) and notifications constantly going off on devices. This was going to be another device, but the only one I would WEAR on my body – so there is no escaping it.After unsealing the grey box these come in, it unfolded like some sort of Origami Transformer. What was happening?!Then it happens – you see that golden brown, signature Ray-Ban leather case. Yeah, it’s nice. I do have one with some regular polarized Ray Ban shades I own, but this version has tech baked into it which charges the sunglasses and the button in the center glows different colours to signal status. Cool! I do love LED lights and these product design touches. I moved onto the glasses. Now, unlike a previous reviewer, I actually didn’t mind the fact that you have to sign up for a Meta account, because I don’t do social media. Hence, I have no accounts.Within a short time, I was able to listen to music, take photos with the camera (btw, there are accessories to hide the light that you can get), and test the hands-free commands like “take a photo” or “start recording video”. Many have said the sound from these is quite good and I agree. Same is true for call quality. People have said they can hear me just fine. Have not had the chance to test them in some wind. Don’ expect the photos or videos to match your smartphone. That’s asking too much. I was getting about 5-6 hours of use, with all my testing, before they needed to hit the case for a well deserved charge session. When I tested the AI assistant, it felt basic and underdeveloped, and a few times it missed what I said and I had to repeat. That’s fine – firmware updates can evolve this and Ray Ban will release improvements.Style-wise, the Skyler would not be my first choice with it’s cateye-ish like design, but build quality and finish is good, and that’s what I’m basing the rating and review on. They feel premium, and live up to the Ray Ban brand.

My first reaction to Ray-Ban’s Meta Skyler Gen 2 sunglasses wasn’t “that’s cool” or “neat idea” but “those look like something my grandmother would have worn in the 80s.” My second immediate reaction was, “what a privacy nightmare.””Hey Meta, who are these for exactly?” was the question I wanted to ask the most, but given the Meta AI’s inability to follow simple commands (including “keep your answers short and concise,”) I didn’t bother.Out of the box, setup isn’t terrible. Plug in, charge, and… use a QR code. I hate QR codes. Stop with them already. Also, you’re stuck using the Google Play or Apple store as Meta has sent DMCA takedown notices to most APK repositories. On top of that, you’ll need to create a Meta account (you do have the option to login using Facebook or Instagram, if you’d like to give Zuck an even more complete picture of your life). A burner e-mail comes in handy for times like these, but these glasses will still want a whole lot of permissions on your phone. A disclaimer will tell you that your conversations will be sent to and stored by Meta, and copies of all your queries to Meta AI can be found in the app itself (you can wipe these from the history in the app, whether or not that wipes them on Meta’s end is unclear, though I rather doubt it).So, Meta will presumably know about all the embarrassing questions you ask your sunglasses, as if wandering around talking aloud to a pair of glasses isn’t embarrassing enough. Again, who are these for exactly? What can they do that my phone can’t, other than rest on the bridge of my nose?Since my phone uses a De-Googled Android fork, I opted to use not just a burner e-mail but a burner phone to test these. Honestly, maybe I shouldn’t care, but the idea that Meta needs every conversation you ever have with your tech seems extremely invasive. Then again, they’re selling what amounts to spyglasses to the average user, so privacy really doesn’t seem to be a concern to Meta at all. In any case, performance-wise, the best I can say is that the photos and video are clear – if you can play said video. Mine would not play in the app, instead just giving me an endlessly spinning progress wheel that made zero progress. Luckily you have the option to save the file to your phone after importing it into the app from the glasses. Yay, now it plays! Solid quality, 10/10 on that front. It just seems like a whole lot of hoops to go through to take photos with a pair of glasses. I thought these might be neat while fishing, and maybe they would have been, but all the app issues (more on those in a minute) and the absolutely dated look of the glasses makes me not want to bother.Let’s round out the app/AI review here: AI queries… well, I asked who won the World Series this year. I got a lengthy answer that amounted to “In the 2025 World Series, the Los Angeles Dodges defeated to Toronto Blue Jays in a thrilling seven game series.” So I asked Meta AI to keep its answers short and concise. Then I asked the same question again. The response? “That information is not in my databanks.” Is it that hard to just say “the LA Dodgers?” Then it tried to give me the results of the 2024 Under 18 World Series… which is not something I had even asked for. I tried a third time, and got the same lengthy answer as my first query.Great… AI is anything but intelligent. It’s clearly artificial, however, and sounds just like it.On the hardware front, these play music, with volume controlled by a track pad on one arm of the glasses. Slide your finger lengthwise, volume goes up, reverse that swipe, it goes down, kind of, sort of, but half the time it doesn’t seem to detect your swipe, and you wind up repeating the motion several times to get volume where you want it. This could be chalked up to a learning curve/getting used to how much pressure to apply I suppose.Photo/video recording are controlled by what amounts to a shutter button. That was fine.Ultimately these glasses seem like something out of Back to the Future II, like a dated version of the future. They’re clunky, if solidly built. They don’t feel like they’ll fall apart, but they’re super thick (for a good reason I’m sure, you have to fit that tech somewhere, but thick framed sunglasses aren’t something I’m into). The lenses shape also comes off decidedly feminine for something that should be unisex.Battery life? Eight hours on “moderate” use. Probably barely an hour recording video, so basically, these are a novelty.Who are these for, exactly? Tech oligarch worshippers and people who absolutely must have every gadget out there. Overall, a disappointing experience both on the tech front and the eyewear front. If you’re going to have your privacy violated you might as well just use your smartphone. Maybe a few generations from now, the Skyler glasses will have a place on your nose.
